Fall News and Tips
IN THIS ISSUE:
Hello,
Welcome to fall! In the Chinese solar calendar (which we follow in Chinese medicine), autumn or metal season and the cooling trend, started on August 8th this year. With this new season, change is afoot! This change is about refining your outlook with the perhaps harshness of what is in front of you. This metal chisel is meant to help enlighten and transform you to a new beautiful self. Metal is about looking inward and digesting the information, but most importantly, letting go in order to step forward. You cannot step forward until you release the back foot, so release and let your continued evolution transform!
Speaking of transformation, we have a few administrative changes coming up in October. Read the details below and let us know if you have any questions when you are next in the clinic.
Lastly, in Chinese medicine and life balance, Metal is a cold and drying energy. Have you noticed the cooler air? This means it’s time to put those socks back on as much as you want to resist changing from sandals to shoes. I like free toes too, but I like warm feet and ankles much better for my Yang Qi and this important function for the immune system. That means it is also time for you to pull out the scarf to help protect and warm the acupoints on the neck that are there to fight “pathogens”, including how cold weather reduces our Yang Qi and immune function. Wear a scarf (and have it handy) more now to enhance your Wei – Defensive Qi!
Familiarize yourself with online booking
As of October 5th we will no longer have a receptionist to schedule appointments for you, so please begin to familiarize yourselves with our online booking system if you have not done so already.
If you have NOT booked online before, follow these steps to get started:
October rate changes
In October, our acupuncture service rates will be increasing to align the industry standard and to include credit card processing fees. The mainstay 50 min follow up will be increasing to $115 per visit.
We also have REDUCED our Chinese herb prices. In our previous newsletter, we explained that Health Canada is proposing a giant leap in fees to companies that curate and sell natural supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and Chinese herbs. We advocated to you to speak to your MP. We want to keep this very important medicine accessible so I’ve made the decision to reduce RTW’s Chinese herbal medicine prices by 5-10% to increase affordability while still covering our costs.
Chinese herbs have been used for over 2,000 years and when used properly from a qualified practitioner, the results may be outstanding. It is something to consider if other treatment options have not risen to the challenge of restoring function and health. Ask us more about them the next time you are in the clinic!
Upcoming changes to payment procedures
Starting in October, each practitioner at Red Tree Wellness will take payment separately. Red Tree Wellness will continue to be the booking center and shared health space with your familiar team of Dr. Sonia F. Tan, DAOM, RTCMP, Dr. Kathleen Dang, ND, RAc and Suzanne Williams, RTCMP.
Quick clinic FYI:
We wish you a smooth autumn.
Yours in good health and happiness,
Dr. Sonia F. Tan, DAOM and the Red Tree Wellness team
